Miss Teen Roanoke The FestivalEmily Woods"How can we help you with the Festival?" I ask Father Dean Nastos of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. "Well, you could work the pastry booth," he replies. "That would be great!" I exclaim. "All Emily has been talking about is the baklava." Oh, and it was good baklava, with whole gloves stuck in the center of each piece, but Peggy, Emily's mom and I also really liked the almond cookies. So our Miss Teen Roanoke Valley, Emily Wood, worked at the pastry booth for the first hour of her appearance at the Roanoke Greek Festival this past Saturday and then, after a brief lunch of souvlaki and delicate Greek pastries, went out on a Meet-n-Greet. The pictures that follow this email chronicle Emily's encounters at the Festival.
