Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church

The Orthodox Christian Faith

The Orthodox Christian Faith is made up of people who gather together in His Name to share a common faith and hope based on the love of God. We affirm the truth, orthodoxy, of our faith, belief, and experience in order to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to all. The foundation of our Faith is both Holy Tradition: that which is passed on or given over within the Church, from the time of Jesus Christ to the present and Holy Scripture: the inspired word of God and the written record of His revelation. The Orthodox Church began in 33 A.D. on Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles. Today there are over 250 million members around the world and we are growing everyday. We believe in the Holy Trinity:Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Three persons in one God. While separate and distinct, each share fully in the divine nature and will, while united together in perfect love. We have seven Sacraments: Baptism, Chrismation, Confession, Eucharist, Marriage, Ordination and Unction. These are just some of the aspects of the Orthodox Faith.

Sanctuary Tours

Church tours will be available at designated times through out the festival. Personal guides will provide special lecture tours which will be informative as they describe the history of Orthodoxy which traces its origin to the day of Pentecost. The community was established by the early immigrants in 1928. Since that time, the church has been woven into the fabric of Roanoke and the surrounding communities.
